Nucleolipids – Microarrays Without Solid Support
A new technique allows to detect and to analyze nucleic acids cheap, simply and reproducible. Moreover, nucleic acids can be isolated specifically from bulk mixtures. As probe oligonucleotides lipid derivatives are used, which can be synthesized with commercial nucleic acid synthesizers. The unknown nucleic acid to be analyzed is labelled with a reporter group and identified by hybridisation at a liquid-gas or a liquid-liquid interphase with a complementary sequence. The crucial advantage of this technique is the obviation of expensive and problematic coupling reactions on solid supports.
